I’ve been thinking a lot about my entry way lately and its because I’m super excited about decorating it. I settled on a wallpaper – I haven’t finished saving up for it though because it’s the Scalamandre black and yellow Zebra pattern, Scalamandre = $$$. Wallpaper aside, I’ve been working on a plan for how to finish the rest of the room. I’d like to break the small space into two separate parts. The first, the entry ‘moment’ where as soon as we step in there is a spot to place our keys, hang our coats and drop the mail.
There’s also a small cabinet for mine, Jack’s and Rita’s things, along with a drawer for menus. I used it in the past place and it still needs a paint job, any suggestions?
The next part of the room is the work/decorative/entertainment place that is anchored around the desk Jack built. I plan to use this as desk for my home office needs as well as have it look a like a pretty dry bar at parties or the typical console table for the rest of the time. Now, all of these ‘looks’ will rely mainly on styling and I know that’s how I’ll be able to pull the room together.
For inspiration I’ve gathered my favorite examples of well styled entryway tables.
For anyone who is looking, I would definitely recommend Michael S. Smith and David Easton’s books – they have so many beautifully styled console, and entry tables.

Looks great! I think you should paint the side table a semi gloss gold similar to the one in the wallpaper.
I agree with The Bohmerian – Gold paint with perhaps clear glass knobs or lacquered black knobs…Can’t wait to see the finished product one of these days soon! That wallpaper is so stunning!
All the other photograph examples have light walls, your dramatic wallpaper has a dark background color. You have a gold chair. I think i would paint the dresser cabinent a camel color, maybe a light camel. Ask Jack to add a tray top to it and the glass knobs would be nice….or maybe ceramic indigo blue.
Like your look as well as all the examples you have shared with us.
that scalamandre paper and color tray are SMASHING. what great taste you have. love the masculine feel to it but so so so luxe. bravo. ps – been dying to have a client gutsy enough to use this paper. Even if in just a powder room!
Bethany, Thank you so much for your kind words! I can’t wait to install this paper – we just got the rolls in last week! I’ll definitely post photos when all is complete.
