The Following Locations are New York Centric – Visitors to NYC please enjoy!
(Favorite) Thrift Stores: Home
- www.housingworks.com – There are a bunch of these fabulous stores around the city. They always have great window displays (employ visual students as interns – had a friend who did it). I purchased my brand new, still plastic wrapped, Crate & Barrel sofa bed on the 90th street location for $400.00! Such a steal!
- www.goodwill.org – I think there are three Goodwills in the city. One in my neighborhood – UES which is good for housewares and a great one in Chelsea on 25th street, for fashion its actually right across from the Chelsea flea market!
- www.gogreenvillage.com – This “junk yard” is out in Bushwick Brooklyn, but definitely worth the visit and the picking. I have yet to find a good piece, but I did see a lot of great WIP options!
(Favorite) Thrift Stores: Fashion
- www.housingworks.com – These thrift stores have supplied me to many of Marc Jacobs, Theory and beautiful vintage. Visit often!

- www.buffaloexchange.com – I usually leave Buffalo with something, especially the one in Williamsburg.
- www.beaconscloset.com – Beacons is a must shop store, when I used to live in Brooklyn I would go at least once every two weeks. I also sold a lot of clothing here. My suggestion, know what you’re looking for before you go, the one in Williamsburg is really big and can be overwhelming. For example, I always had success when shopping for boots and jeans!
- Tokio7 – This vintage/consignment shop is one of the best in the city!
Flea Markets:
- Brooklyn Flea
- FIT Flea market – I know, sounds funny. But during the warmer months on Thursdays FIT host a flea market that usually has a well curated list of affordable vendors.
- Chelsea Flea AKA Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market – So much fun!
